Japanese Ashigaru (Carl)

I was going to wait until I'd finished another model before posting this one as it sort of goes with it, but progress has slowed a bit this week.

This is one of Eureka Miniatures Ashigaru. Reading around the subject of uniforms it seems that the Ashigaru didn't really have much in the way of uniforms so this one (and the three others I'm painting) will all be having different treatments of the cloth. The armour will be consistent across them though, so that will hopefully tie them together.

ECW Irish Pikemen (Carl)

A bit of a change for this entry from the painting table. It's a base of Irish Pikemen for English Civil War games. I'll be running a Montrose royalist force and these great looking models from Eureka Miniatures UK form part of my first ever pike block. 

Painted using mostly washes (or heavily thinned acrylic) on a white prime. Overwash with Games Workshop's Agrax Earthshade. Then working in a few highlights afterwards. I also used Nuln Oil (GW) for the first time to wash into the shadows a bit, pretty pleased with it so will be experimenting with that a bit more.

I've got the rest of the Pikemen to clean up yet plus the command so eventually there will be 16 in the block.

I'll also be adding a sleeve of 8 shot to go alongside them. They're awaiting clean up too.
